Do You Keep a Book on You at All Times?
I do too!! 🙂
Between my car, phone, or backpack — I always have an e-book, audio book, or hardcopy close by!
As Rockstars, we are masters of ingestion on the go!
We ingest food for our bodies as we drive, brain food for ongoing personal + professional development as we shower, and hope on the go as we move throughout the day!
I started reading Kim’s book in preparation for our May Soar Session. I kept the book in my car to read in between appointments, school pick-up, and overall life. It started off as a work read, but I got HOOKED!
“…even though nice girls don’t fight, strong ones sure as hell do” – K. Dabbs
I have experienced Kim’s strength.
I have even been the beneficiary of her “fight” as a healer and disruptor within systems…but I did not know the source of her strength. I didn’t know the “why” undergirding her life’s work of reducing othering and leading to catalyze belonging. Her book is a bit of her soul.
There is a picture Kim shares in the book.
She is a few months old.
As a baby, Kim was left on the street in a police box in Korea.
The baby picture is from a social work case file.
To some, it may resemble a mugshot. To me – it is a glimpse of the fire that ignites the fighter Kim Dabbs is today.
What are you fighting?
Battles connected to being the “first and only” at work?
Battles connected to advocating for inclusive and equitable practices for your children?
Battles to be seen? Heard? Valued? Respected?
Battles to resist code-switching?
Battles to sustain the “Imma Do it Anyway” mindset you had at the top of the year?
Whatever the challenge is — the May Soar session will ignite the dreamer + FIGHTER within you!
If you have ever been overlooked, underestimated, underserved, rendered visibly invisible, tokenized, patronized, or made to feel like an outsider, this is your session!
