Seasons Of Change

June is the sixth month of our calendar year and marks the beginning of summer. The number ‘six’ represents responsibility, service, and nurturing. Summer represents happiness, optimism, and joy.

As we begin moving through this season of our lives, we are also reminded of the season we are in physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. If we consider the years of our ages as seasons, what season do you consider yourself to be in at this time? I would like to think I am at the end of fall and at the beginning of winter. I say I am at the end of fall and the beginning of winter because in the fall, you reap the harvest and prepare for the long winter.

Approaching each new age I encounter, I notice things are very quickly different than they were 30 years ago. I am reminded to use this time to reflect on the harvest of those things I have planted and begin to reap the benefits. One of these benefits is exercise. I have several accountability sisters who keep each other encouraged to move. With the change of each season, we check in to make sure we are continuing to move; no matter what the season – we provide the push necessary for us to keep moving.

It is very easy to stop the momentum of exercise as seasons move from pleasant to treacherous. Yet, we keep it moving and make sure we keep each motivated to do something as all movement requires you to get out of a still space and put one foot in front of the other.

One of my favorite scriptures is Ecclesiastes chapter 3, where the writer shares that there is a season and time for everything. As we move into this season of responsibility, service, and nurturing, I invite you to join me in celebrating a time of happiness, optimism, and joy. Breathe in the awareness and understanding of what it means to be responsible in service as we nurture those in our circles. Breathe out the happiness, optimism, and joy that flow from the breath we breathe on all things in our atmosphere.

Regardless of your season, regardless of what you see in the mirror – let us walk together in the beauty of Philippians 4:8: thinking about what is noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy.
